Help with ikhaya
Email help@myikhaya.co.za. A real person in South Africa reads every message, usually within a day.
Setting up the family
Open ikhaya, tap Start a new family and continue with Apple. Give the family a name, say what the kids call you, add the kids by first name and pick a few starter jobs.
Getting a kid’s iPhone on
On your phone tap Kids, then the kid, then Show their code. On the kid’s iPhone open ikhaya, tap I’m a kid joining my family and type the six numbers. The code works once, for 10 minutes.
Screen time doesn’t switch on
Apple only lets a parent approve screen time for a child in their Family Sharing group. On your iPhone go to Settings, tap your name, then Family, and add your child. Then try again on their phone.
ikhaya is locked at bedtime
When screen time is first set up, ikhaya asks which apps always work. Pick ikhaya there (it’s under Other). To change it later: on your phone open the kid’s card and tap Change which apps count, then type the code on their phone under For grown-ups.
Adding a grown-up
Tap More, then Grown-ups, then Send an invite on WhatsApp. They tap the link on their iPhone, sign in and they’re in. The link works once, for 7 days.
Adding the kitchen screen
On the tablet open myikhaya.co.za/screen in the browser. In ikhaya on your phone tap More, then Add a kitchen screen, and type the six numbers the tablet shows. Keep the tablet plugged in.
Deleting your data
In ikhaya tap More. Leave and delete my account removes you. Delete all our family’s data removes everyone and everything for good. A kid and their history can be deleted from their card.
